Anxiety of the night

Blue skies

Turn to pink

Then they shrink

As darkness closes tightly in against the daylight hours.

The daylight

Not long ago ripe with possibilities

Is squeezed out

By grey and dark.

Life has just passed by

In one more warm fragment

Fragrant with words and longings.

The dreams for the day

Shudder to a stop

And what is left

But the cocoon of dark night

And the promise of sleep

Dancing, dreaming, screaming

Sleep.
