Letting Go

I got to the bottom

and look what I found

Rocky ground.

I struck the rock at the bottom

and look what I found

A rock in the ground

I stared at that rock

Listening to what it said

Then I let go

Of the trying

and buying

and desiring

and the longing

and the wanting

and the building.

It lifted in a hot smokey cloud

Thick all around

I waved it goodbye

With a sigh

So much was precious and hard won

But you’re right

It must be gone.

There it goes.

Now under my toes

I see the rock

Is a diamond.
